The NEX(t) new thing

No photographer is as good as the simplest camera.- Edward Steichen
A new camera shouldn’t be that hard to learn….. I bought the Sony NEX 6 to upgrade my point and shoot.  I am quite pleased with the quality of the photos it produces, WHEN I the photographer can use the camera correctly. In the early morning blue hours before sunrise, I expect the viewfinder to be dark, unfortunately, on the NEX, if it is dark then the image is under exposed. The view screen on back shows what the effective exposure is; therefore if it is dark, the image is dark, or if it is washed out, the image is washed out.  It is very easy to bump the exposure controls on the NEX 6. The multi function controller is easily bumped and changes in the camera setup happen that I am often not aware of until after I look at the image.  This requires a new set up habits on things to check on the camera, as well as the intended image. On my Canon traditional big glass SLR, if I set the focal distance on the lens, and then take a moment to recompose, the focal distance remains the same, but on the Sony NEX, once live view shuts off, the lens defaults to the widest angle, and requires recomposing the image again.  This slows up (which might be a good thing) the process of taking an photo. The third annoyance that I have with mirrorless cameras, is my objection many years ago with digital; that it takes too long for the camera to respond when pressing half way down or all of the way down on the shutter button.
