Photography of elephant seals is difficult for several reasons:
- Finding the right location is difficult, as the elephant seals only congregate in a couple of locations along the coast
- You need a long lens (400mm or longer ) to be successful
- The long lens typically requires a gimbal mount of some sort.
- The elephant seals are colored very similar to the sand, and are low contrast
If you want to learn how to photography elephant seals, this is the workshop for you. And it doesn’t hurt that there a lots of good wineries nearby for the afternoon
