Is Black & White Photography just taking color out of a photo?
Most photographers know that there is work involved after capturing the image in the camera. The as it came out of the camera color image above leaves a lot to be desired. The image needs a little more contrast, a little bit more color, some sharpening.
The image to the right has those changes. Somewhat hard to see in the small format. And the above image is generally more pleasing.
But, what about black and white? What is needed there? This image is as shot out of the camera, converted to black and white. It needs a LOT of work.
Here is the processed color image converted to black and white. It is better, but there are still a number of issues.
